Yesterday was a day of rest. We had a look at a DVD of the Grand Canyon to help us sort out the hikes. Both of us are getting very excited about this trip and we haven’t even been confirmed to the Phantom Ranch overnights yet. It reminded us of the dangers of hiking in the desert as well as the beauty we will be experiencing. We are thinking of starting at the south rim and utilizing the Kaibab trail on the way out and the Bright Angel trail on the return from the North Rim. We haven’t quite figured this all out, but then we have more than a year.

We are still working out what to do from 6:30am to 4:00pm in Reykjavik on the first day that we are there. We have to be at the airport by four in the afternoon for the flight to Heimaey but don’t want to wander around aimlessly. There are a couple of walking tours that are possible – don’t really want to walk around too much as well as we are getting ready for the marathon.
